Studies with ipriflavone, an isoflavone-derivative, show it can enhance bone formation and inhibit bone breakdown. It is added to this bone support formula for patients at highest risk of osteoporosis who are under regular clinical supervision. Inadequate calcium intake is a well-known risk factor for osteoporosis, a progressive bone disease influenced by age, sex, race, exercise, and many other dietary and lifestyle choices. OsteoThera™ Plus Ipriflavone is formulated with a two-fold purpose: 1) to help teenagers and young adult women optimize peak bone mass to reduce risk of osteoporosis later in life, and 2) to help slow the rate of bone loss in menopausal women, elderly men and women, and those with a family history of osteoporosis. Highly bioavailable forms of minerals essential for bone health plus synergistic nutrients are included to maximize mineral absorption using the least number of pills. Calcium and vitamin D support bone mineral density, magnesium supports bone strength and remodeling, boron promotes calcium and magnesium balance, and vitamin K activates proteins used in bone metabolism. When combined with the average amounts of calcium and magnesium in the diet, two tablets of OsteoThera™ taken twice daily with MultiThera® multiple vitamin/mineral supplement raises calcium and magnesium in a balanced manner to bring total amounts to recommended levels.
